Description
The southern face of Mt. Elbert approaching the summit in September. Mt. Elbert is the highest peak in the Colorado Rockies at 14,439 ft (4,401 m) and the 2nd highest in the lower 48 states. There is an elevation gain of 4,100 ft (1,250 m) from the East Ridge trailhead over a distance of 4 miles (~6.5 km) each way.
