"The mountains were so wild and so stark and so very beautiful that I wanted to cry. I breathed in another wonderful moment to keep safe in my heart." -Jane Wilson-Howarth

"Mountains humble me in that they were here long before any of us and have endured and outlasted all human achievement after it has turned to dust and rust. Mountains remind me how finite I am, and that the short time I have on this earth is worth investing in things that are not small and selfish but higher and more noble." -Joseph Holub

"We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us." -John Muir

"The mountains are calling, and I must go." -John Muir

The above last two quotations could describe me from the time I was 16 years old and came to these mountains for the first time. From that time on, I felt a passion for the Rocky Mountains.

My wife and I have lived full or part-time in Buena Vista, Colorado since 1999. We also lived in Colorado from 1981-87. Otherwise, we frequently vacationed in the Buena Vista area for 30 years. Exploring central Colorado in our Jeep and on foot has been our passion. Some physical limitations have caused us to cut back on the hiking, but the Jeep still takes us to many beautiful locations.

When I retired in 2013, I was given a Canon Powershot Camera that triggered my interest in outdoor photography. Since then I have upgraded and continue to learn more all the time about, what has become, my favorite pastime in my favorite place on this planet.

Most of the photos on this site are from the region of central Colorado (with a few exceptions) extending from Summit County to the north, South Park to the east, Alamosa to the south, and Gunnison to the west.

I started this site in November of 2016, so it's in the early stages of development. You are invited to stop in from time to time to see new photos.
